The above is a question that we were being asked often by our regular / new window cleaning customers. With that in mind we decided it was time to give the people what they want! So after much research, we decided to invest in a gutter vacuum cleaner. The new machine is a compliment to our pure water fed pole system. I am going to use this blog to explain why your gutters are essential to your home, and also it’s up-keep.
Why get your Gutters cleaned?
Homes have gutters and downpipes as an effective way to drain off rain water. Living in Ireland, they are especially important with the amount of wet weather we receive. Over time if not cleaned leaves and debris build up; if left it then stops the easy and free flow of rain water into the downpipe, which in turn leads into your drain. You can only imagine if not cleaned what would happen. Before you know it a new eco system starts to grow in the gulleys. That neglected gutter could soon be causing all sorts of problems around your property. Overflowing water may start to damage your roof and in the worst situation even affect foundations.
How often should I clean my Gutters?
Really it depends on where you live. In the majority of cases once or twice a year is best. But if you live in a location surrounded by trees, it might be worth considering getting the inside of your gutters cleaned more often.
How will you clean my gutters without a long ladder and bucket?
At Blue Sky cleaning we do our best not to work at height as much as possible. The safest way is by keeping our feet firmly on the ground. Just like our water fed pole system, we use a machine called a gutter sucker which we can use from ground level. The benefit is that no heavy ladders need to be placed on your gutter, with an overflowing bucket of mud and moss precariously positioned at the top. Or ladders having to be carried around your property, thus reducing any potential damage to your residence, and to ourselves. The vacuum on our machine is powerful enough to clean all debris, leaves and stagnant water from your gutters. After all the insides have been cleaned we then, with our pole system, give your fascia and soffits a good clean. Once dried they look as good as new!
So all that is left for me to ask now is; Do you need your gutters cleaned?
